With attacks (and spell casting): Triples on a successful attempt get you triple the damage you roll. I.e., calculate damage as normal, then triple it. A triple 6 roll gets you triple your max damage.
When specifically attempting to knock someone unconscious (rather than kill them) with a ranged weapon, take a -1 penalty to the attack. (No penalty for melee or magic attacks.)
For character creation: One can follow the outlines in the Player’s Guide, OR can use the following point buy system. For your Primary Abilities, set them all to 0, and spread 7 points out between them as you wish. For your Secondary Abilities, set them all to -1 and spread out an additional 10 points as you wish. See the descriptions of the classes for what the primary abilities are.
